Austin FC debuts light green 'Rooted Kit' honoring city landscapes for 2026 season

February 12, 2026

  • What: Austin FC unveiled a new secondary jersey called the Rooted Kit for the 2026 season, featuring a light green colorway and city-inspired graphics.
  • Who: Austin FC, sponsors YETI and Siete Foods, poet Amanda Johnston, and the Austin Symphony Orchestra are involved in the kit release.
  • Where: The kit celebrates Austin landmarks and natural sites, including references to Barton Springs and the Congress Bridge over Town Lake.
  • Why it matters: The new uniform ties the club to local identity as fans look ahead to a season that includes a major offseason signing aimed at improving results.

Austin FC introduced its 2026 secondary uniform, the Rooted Kit, presenting a serene light green shade meant to reflect the city’s outdoor character. The club rolled out the jersey in a video production that blends spoken word and orchestral music to frame the design as a celebration of place.

Design elements draw direct inspiration from Austin’s natural and built environment. The kit’s hue nods to the clear water of Barton Springs and local plant life, a small oak tree silhouette sits above an outline of the Congress Bridge near the bottom hem, and the back neckline carries the phrase ROOTED IN ATX. YETI remains the primary sponsor on the chest, while Siete Foods appears on the right sleeve.

Austin FC chose poet Amanda Johnston to narrate the release film, and the Austin Symphony Orchestra provided the musical backdrop. Johnston, the state’s 61st Poet Laureate, recites text that praises the region’s landscapes as footage and stills accompany the jersey reveal.

The timing arrives as the club heads into a new campaign later this month, coming off a season that returned them to the playoffs. Austin FC reached the postseason but exited in the first round to LAFC, the same opponent that ended their title hopes three years earlier; the club’s best recent performance came in 2022 when they advanced to the Western Conference finals.

Offseason roster moves include a high-profile signing of 25-year-old Uruguayan winger Facundo Torres, acquired for a reported $9.5 million transfer fee. Supporters hope the new addition will boost the team’s attacking production, and many expect him to feature prominently in the new kit on match days.

Fans can view the launch video on the club’s channels and purchase the Rooted Kit through official team retail outlets. The club credited photographer Jacob Gonzalez for the promotional imagery used in the announcement.
