Austin communities and institutions are staging events all month to mark Women’s History Month, with a focus on Latina voices and support for survivors of domestic violence. Neighborhood cultural centers, libraries, museums and university programs are hosting discussions, performances and educational activities for residents of all ages.
On Saturday, March 7, Curra's Hyde Park will join Café con Leche for a morning event starting at 10:30 a.m., featuring coffee, cultural programming and live mariachi music. The next evening, March 8 at 6:30 p.m., the Latinas Runners Club 1967 will hold a 5K at Greg Gym to raise funds for women affected by domestic violence. UT students can register individually, form teams with friends, or sign up as student organizations.
Participants in the 5K will receive a race bib, a medal and event swag, and organizers encourage runners to wear pink or purple in solidarity with survivors. The race aims to combine fitness, community-building and fundraising in support of local services for survivors. Organizers expect students and community members to take part across different levels of participation.
From March 11 to 21, the third annual Mundo de las Mujeres festival will present works that center Latina stories. The program includes two staged readings of plays written by Latina playwrights, and a stand-up comedy set by Andrea Menchaca Hall, who received the Milagro Artist Fund award.
The Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at UT will host an International Women’s Day leadership panel on Monday, March 9, 2026, from noon to 1:30 p.m. Panelists include Robin Lerner, president of the Texas International Education Consortium; Katherine Strandberg, policy director at Everybody Texas; and Hope Osborn, executive director of the Lyndon B. Johnson School’s Campaign School for Women.
Austin Public Library will spotlight women’s accomplishments throughout March with classes, talks and reading groups, featuring many Latina authors. The University of Texas will close the month with a campus celebration on Thursday, March 27, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the Main Mall, where exhibits, women-run small businesses and student organizations will host interactive activities.
These events span neighborhood venues and major campus spaces, offering multiple ways for Austinites to participate in Women’s History Month. Community members can check event calendars and organizer pages for registration details, locations and schedules.
