Canyon Ranch is bringing a large-scale wellness destination to Central Texas at 600 Moonlight Bend in Spicewood. The property spans 600 acres and sits roughly 45 minutes from downtown Austin. Developers plan 141 guest rooms alongside 134 family homes, and they say the resort is slated to open this September, with reservations opening in April 2026.
The project positions itself as the brand's third full-service wellness resort, following the original Tucson location and the later expansion to Lenox, Massachusetts. Canyon Ranch operates spa outposts in Las Vegas and Fort Worth, and the Tucson flagship earned a top wellness ranking from the Michelin Guide in 2025. The Austin-area site aims to carry that luxury focus into Central Texas.
On-site amenities will range from an open-air canopy lap pool to a pond where guests can stand-up paddleboard and kayak. Visitors will also find three miles of hiking and biking trails and a fitness barn that houses movement studios, a yoga deck, and a recovery lab. Planners say the resort will run more than 30 activities daily, along with special workshops and visiting speakers.
Spa facilities will total 37 treatment rooms, making it the largest spa in Texas, and the property team compares its footprint to the Trellis Spa in Houston, saying it will offer roughly one and a half times that space. Treatment options will include traditional facials and massages as well as Eastern therapies, Ayurvedic services, and energy or metaphysical work. Guests can use whirlpools, steam rooms, saunas, and six relaxation lounges.
Canyon Ranch will host a physician-led Women's Wellness Collective that addresses menopause, postpartum care, sleep, and hormone services, combining medical oversight with mind-body-spirit programming. Resort organizers also plan curated workshops and expert speaker series as part of the wellness curriculum.
Val M. Cantú, the UT alumnus and chef-owner of Californios, joins as culinary director and chef-in-residence. Cantú will lead Estella, a seasonal Mexican restaurant focused on local ingredients, available to overnight guests and homeowners, while a more casual Flying X Café will overlook the pond.
Residential offerings are designed by Lake Flato Architects, with landscape work by Campbell Landscape Architecture. Ranch-style homes start at $3.5 million and include features such as plunge pools, saunas, cold plunges, and outdoor stargazing ledges. The site remains under construction as the opening approaches.
