The Statesman Cap 10K returns on April 12 with its traditional downtown course that passes the Congress Avenue Bridge, the State Capitol, and the Paramount Theatre. Runners start at 7:30 a.m., and the postrace area will include free massages, food and drinks, plus live music performances. The event remains one of Texas' longest-running 10Ks and draws both competitive runners and casual participants.
ABC Kite Fest will fill the skies on April 11 at 2100 Barton Springs Road, beginning at 10 a.m., and welcomes families and pets, with a dedicated pet zone. Organizers plan a vendor market, live music, and children’s activities such as inflatable play structures and a climbing wall. The festival aims to provide an accessible outdoor outing during spring weather.
A traveling Titanic exhibit opens April 10 at 11000 Middle Fiskville Road and uses an audio guide to walk visitors through personal stories tied to the 1912 sinking. The installation displays artifacts and photographs, and recreates both first-class suites and third-class cabins to illustrate class differences on board. Curators expect the immersive approach to attract history enthusiasts and museum visitors.
Moontower Comedy Fest runs April 7 through April 19 across multiple venues, including the Paramount Theatre, Creek and Cave, and Rozco's. The lineup features national names such as Marc Maron and Leslie Jones, while single-show bookings include comedians like Beth Stelling and Nish Kumar at Cap City Comedy Club. Attendees can purchase either all-access festival badges or individual show tickets.
Modern Bar marks its Rainey Street opening on April 10 at 90 Rainey Street, bringing a more upscale bar concept to the nightlife district. The menu highlights craft cocktails, including the Golden Hour Martini, which pairs olive oil-washed gin with lacto-fermented Texas peach, and a Mushroom Manhattan made with shiitake butter and PX sherry. Owners are positioning the venue as a refined addition to the area’s bar scene.
Meanwhile in Music presents an intimate concert on April 9 at 6:30 p.m. in the Colton House Hotel at 2510 South Congress Avenue, with Santa Fe songwriter Esther Rose headlining a trio of songwriters. The series focuses on small, curated live-music experiences that spotlight songwriters in boutique hotel settings. Tickets are available through the promoter and venue.
Lutie's at the Commodore Perry Estate holds its fifth annual Garden Party on April 12 at 5 p.m., set among the property’s sunken gardens at 4100 Red River Street. The evening will include champagne and signature cocktails, seasonal dishes from Lutie's-plus, and live music under the stars. The event highlights Austin’s hospitality offerings and the estate’s landscaped grounds.
